Starbreeze appoints Mats Juhl as new interim CEO

Swedish games firm Starbreeze has appointed Mats Juhl as its latest interim CEO.

The change in leadership was announced in a release to investors – spotted by GamesIndustry.biz – which said that he would be holding this position until a permanent replacement is found.

This is the second interim CEO that Starbreeze has announced this year. Back in March, the company announced that board member Juergen Goeldner would be leading the company as previous CEO Tobias Sjögren had seemingly departed.

With Juhl's new promotion, Goeldner has been nominated to be chairman of Starbreeze's board.

Juhls joined Starbreeze in 2020 as chief financial officer. Prior to being hired by the Payday maker, he had held finance boss roles at a variety of companies, including Nielsen, Ticketmaster-owned Ticnet, Sweden Arena Management and most recently, helmet firm Mips.

"The board of Starbreeze looks forward to a continued close collaboration with Mats Juhl during the transition period until a permanent replacement is presented," the company wrote in the investor note.
