Longtime fans of the series love seeing mentions of past characters in , and this is a game that has no shortage of wonderful little references. The cozy life simulation franchise gained many players over the worldwide pandemic, introducing the cheerful villagers to a whole new audience. Due to this, sometimes the subtly crafted references may cause a slight bit of confusion to people who are new to games, although many times it may not even be noticeable unless someone can recognize them.
Reddit user, Infiniti_Blue, stumbled across a simple statement in their game after having Rescue Services save them from an unfortunate decorating incident. The Operator of Rescue Services remarked, «So ya got 'auto-saving,' huh? Means ya can't reset things here». Although Infiniti_Blue wasn't familiar with what the statement referred to, many commenters in the thread immediately recognized the reference to grouchy Mr. Resetti.
What some may not know or remember, however, is that Mr. Resetti is currently the operator of Rescue Services in , having apparently had to change jobs with the addition of the auto-save feature removing the need for his role. He is also occasionally seen taking a coffee break at The Roost and can be seen in the DLC.
The grouchy Mr. Resetti has been a longtime character in the series since the beginning, and although his job was deemed unnecessary with the new technology in, he was thankfully not removed completely from the game. The large brown mole used to be in charge of yelling at a player when they reset their games or closed out without saving, hence his name «Resetti» sounding so similar to «Reset». Mr. Resetti was laid off with the inclusion of the autosave function in, but was able to find work in other behind-the-scenes features.
In the comments on Infiniti_Blue's post, some reflect on the nostalgia of Mr. Resetti, as well as Pete, Pelly, Phyllis, and other characters from the older titles. Thankfully, many nostalgic characters do continue to
