The newest Magic: The Gathering set will feature beloved characters solving a murder in Murders at Karlov Manor. Even more murder mystery-themed cards will be added through a collaboration with Hasbro’s iconic board game, Clue, in Ravnica: Clue Edition. Simply who has the time to focus on taking out your opponent when you should be busy solving a murder mystery?
The Murders at Karlov Manor cards feature a neat detective-vibe, including some with a cool typewriter font, that feature the mechanic “investigate.” (The mechanic was originally introduced as part of Shadows over Innistrad in 2016.) Investigating allows you to create a clue token, an artifact that you can pay two mana to sacrifice and draw a card in exchange.

Ravnica: Clue Edition adds characters based off of the Hasbro board game to the mystery. Legendary Creatures like Senator Peacock, lands like the Dining Room, and artifacts like the Lead Pipe add an almost-comical spin to MTG, literally pulling bits from the iconic board game. Something about being able to equip Jeff Goldblum or Rainbow Dash with a lead pipe artifact is so dang good. Wizards, please let me see the other cards. Can I equip somebody with the candlestick? I need to equip a creature with a candlestick and use said candlestick to beat up a big demon or something. I gotta.

Prerelease for Murders at Karlov Manor will begin Feb. 2 with the full launch arriving on Feb. 9. Ravnica: Clue Edition launches Feb. 23.
