A new Jack Ryan movie will see The Office star and A Quiet Place director John Krasinski reprise his role from the hit Prime Video series.
Amazon MGM is developing a new Jack Ryan movie that will serve as a sequel to the television show. It’s not yet known if the movie will get a theatrical release or if it will be made for Prime Video, where the four seasons aired. The show was a hit for the streamer, which is one of Prime Video’s top three most-watched series.
Not only will Krasinski return, but Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are also in negotiations to return for the movie. The cast and crew will feature plenty of familiar faces, as Andrew Bernstein, who directed the second season, will direct the film that was written by Aaron Rabin, who was a writer on the show’s fourth season. Bernstein has also worked on acclaimed shows such as The Diplomat, Ozark, and Foundation.
The new Jack Ryan movie is being produced by Krasinski and Allyson Seeger for Sunday Night and Andrew Form. Executive producers are Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, plus John Kelly and Carlton Cuse.
“As the new CIA Acting Deputy Director, Jack Ryan is tasked with unearthing internal corruption, and in doing so, uncovers a series of suspicious black ops that could expose the vulnerability of the country,” said the synopsis for Season 4. “As Jack and the team investigate how deep the corruption runs, he discovers a far-worse reality — the convergence of a drug cartel with a terrorist organization — ultimately revealing a conspiracy much closer to home and testing our hero’s belief in the system he has always fought to protect.”
All four seasons of Jack Ryan are currently streaming on Prime Video and available to own on 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD. A spin-off is currently in development.
