Assassin's Creed is in a state of limbo right now, as fans prepare for Ubisoft to finally show us what it's been working on. We know that the developer has several Assassin's Creed games in development at the moment, with Assassin's Creed Red looking the most likely to release first, but we still don't know much about its other projects, including the rather ominous Assassin's Creed Hexe.
Thankfully, a new report from Insider Gaming has shed more light on this mysterious title, and it sounds like it's going to be much more of a departure from the traditional Assassin's Creed model. For starters, Insider Gaming has claimed that Ubisoft plans to have Assassin's Creed Hexe launch on its ambitious Infinity platform, and wants it to release in 2026.
As for the game itself, it seems as though Ubisoft plans to shake up the formula a little bit by making Assassin's Creed Hexe "more linear" than previous titles, an interesting phrase since the series has pretty much always been open world, barring the odd spinoff. Insider Gaming has also claimed that Assassin's Creed Hexe will feature a single female protagonist called Elsa, who is able to use various supernatural abilities.
For example, one of the gameplay clips that Insider Gaming claims to have seen involves the game's protagonist possessing a nearby cat, which then knocks over some junk to distract some soldiers hunting for Elsa. It's not too much of a stretch to believe that this is real, especially since Assassin's Creed has allowed us to control eagles for the past few titles, so controlling a cat with your mind doesn't sound too ridiculous.
Insider Gaming also explains that Assassin's Creed Hexe will have a "Fear System" similar to the one that featured in the Jack the Ripper DLC for Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Scaring guards has been a feature in many Assassin's Creed games, usually involving the assassination of a high-ranking member to scare away his grunts, so it'll be interesting to see how Ubisoft
