The recent rumours were correct: Tekken 8 is getting a closed beta test in July, and you can sign up for it right now through the official website. The test will take place across consoles and PC — PS5 obviously included — and will feature a whopping 16 playable characters (that's everyone revealed so far) and five stages. However, it's a first come first served deal, so you'll want to register your interest quickly.
«The aim of this network test is to evaluate the network's quality as well as offering a high end game experience with our new battle system and tactics; aerial combos; new gen graphics; and destructive and interactive stages to players,» reads the press release.
The beta is going to be spread across two separate sessions. The first, PS5 exclusive test begins on the 21st July and lasts until the 24th July, while the second is live from the 28th July to the 31st July. The latter will feature cross-play between all platforms.
But that's not all. The beta's trailer teases a returning character in stylish Italian exorcist Claudio Serafino, who made his debut in Tekken 7. Moto bene.
Will you be
Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Interesting. Doesn't look like the beta will be available to Americans after checking for it on the US site. Maybe I missed it though?
