You can recruit animals to the Goro Kingdom when you meet special creatures in various locations. Once there, Majima can build better friendships with these animals by taking care of them, causing them to produce valuable resources.
Similar to the Golden Balls in , you have to track down many of the potential recruits for Goro Kingdom by exploring your map. However, you'll meet some Goro Kingdom animals naturally through the main story and quests you've already been following. Once you progress to a certain point in the story, you'll be taught about the Goro Kingdom and the benefits of gathering more animal recruits.
In total, there are 11 possible Goro Kingdom recruits you can befriend throughout. You won't be able to start recruiting animals until you unlock the Goro Kingdom through the main story, so progress until you find your first friendly critter.

Once you start recruiting animals, you can build friendships with them by feeding them snacks over time. Feeding an animal will give you different rewards at each friendship tier, but every creature provides some form of ingredient to help you cook powerful items.
