GORN 2 has been announced, a sequel to the hit physics-based gladiatorial combat VR game from 2019. Coming to Meta Quest, SteamVR and PSVR 2 in 2025, GORN 2 will bring more modern controls, better physics and even gorier combat.
GORN 2 is coming from a new development team at Cortopia, though they’re working alongside the original creators Free Lives. Don’t worry, though, this is going to be as ludicrous, over-the-top and silly as ever.
After slaughtering your way through the original, you meet your eventual demise and find yourself in a heavenly realm… filled with all the fallen heroes of the original game. You’ll face off against them in five arenas, battling to meet the five sons’ champions.
Throughout you’ll have access to 35 weapons with some new additions to your arsenal compared to the first game, with enhanced physics and interactions throughout – naturally since 2019 we’ve seen a bunch of new VR platforms, including PSVR 2 a couple generations of Meta Quest, and that’s allowing for better graphics and better motion tracking.
Alongside tackling the five heavenly arenas, you’ll also have an Endless mode, and a Custom mode to let you create your own ridiculous battles.
We reviewed the original game when it arrived on the first PSVR in 2020, with Gamoc saying, “Gorn is exactly what it looks like; it’s silly, over the top, and hilarious. This isn’t a serious melee combat game, but if you’re after comic ultra-violence, then this is the best option on PSVR. With a little more content, some gameplay beyond battling waves of enemies, and a touch more polish, this would be an easy recommendation, but it’s still worth a shot if you want a bit of a giggle.”
