It’s February 27, which means that it’s Pokémon Day. To celebrate the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, The Pokémon Company throws a special live stream every year on this day. That’s always a cause for excitement, but this year’s Pokémon Presents showcase wasespecially intriguing with the Nintendo Switch 2 right around the corner.
While we didn’t see Nintendo’s new console during the stream, we did at least get a tease of two games likely coming to the system. Pokémon Legends: Z-A got a new trailer that teased a late 2025 release date, which would likely make it a Switch 2 cross-launch. We also learned that Pokémon Champions is in development, which could likely make its way to Nintendo’s new system. Beyond that, we got updates on the usual line-up of Pokémon mobile games like Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket andPokémon Go. If you missed the show, here’s out full recap of what was announced.
The Pokémon Stadium series is getting a revival. Pokémon Champions is a new competitive game that is in development for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. It also sounds like it could be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 as well, as it’s slated to launch on “the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.” Development is being handled by The Pokémon Works. It will be compatible with Pokémon Home, allowing players to bring in creatures from across the series. We only saw a tease of the game during the presentation, but it showed off some familiar arena battles that call back to the classic Nintendo 64 games.
