Marvel Rivals – Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum Revealed as New Upcoming Map

With Season 1: Eternal Night Falls for Marvel Rivals starting soon, NetEase Games has revealed one of the new maps for players.

It’s the Sanctum Sanctorum, Doctor Strange’s home, housing many powerful magic artifacts. However, it’s not in shipshape – check out the trailer below.

Since the Timestream Entanglement, Strange is away from New York City, causing Dracula to plunge it into endless darkness. The Sanctorum is also affected – some areas look normal while others appear to be crossing over into another dimension.

There’s even low gravity in certain places. Marvel Rivals Season 1 goes live on January 10th at 1 AM PST for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Alongside new maps, it adds the Fantastic Four as playable heroes. Mister Fantastic is a Duelist who specializes in melee combat, and The Invisible Woman is a Strategist with knockback abilities, barriers, and more.

Every time an Old School RuneScape story crops up, there's a period of acclimatisation where I struggle to work out exactly what the players are doing and why. I'm not unfamiliar with the game, having played it way back in the day, but RuneScape at the extremes can be a pretty wild place, a world where players suddenly break the dam on a 16 year-old minigame by overwhelming guards en masse, or some thrillseeker risks a 370-hour no-hit account to get a fancy cape (to be fair, it does have flames).

There are a couple distinct vibes in the demo for Locator, a mystery puzzle game from developer Empty Exhibit. It's got some DNA from Geoguessr, as you look at photos taken at ground level and try to suss out the locations they correspond to on a top-down zoomable map. It also gave me a big Strange Horticulture mood since you're examining a journal, diagrams, pictures, and other clues as if they're in front of you on a desktop.
