Seattle-based Jar of Sparks has told staff that it is pausing work on its debut project as it tries to find a new publishing partner.
Studio founder Jerry Hook took to LinkedIn to announce the news, saying that it was proud of the work it has committed so far to this game.
Jar of Sparks was set up in July 2024 with the backing of Chinese entertainment giant NetEase; it appears that the firm is no longer providing publishing support for the studio's debut project. "Throughout this journey, our passionate, driven, and innovative team took bold risks and pushed boundaries, striving to create something truly new and exciting for the industry," Hook wrote. "We couldn’t be prouder of the groundwork we’ve laid together.
As we prepare for this next step, our talented team members will be exploring new opportunities. If you’re searching for exceptional professionals who are driven and think outside the box, please reach out.
We’d be more than happy to connect you with some of the best developers I have had the pleasure of working beside." This is the second NetEase-backed studio to pause work in recent months; in November, Worlds Untold announced that it was halting development on its first project, too.
