Final Fantasy XVI PC Update 1.01 Introduces Performance Improvements, Bluetooth Connectivity for DualSense Controllers and More

The first Final Fantasy XVI update for the recently released PC version is now live, bringing performance improvements and more.

Update 1.01 aims to improve game stability, add controller options, and address several other issues. As part of the game stability improvement, the update resolves an issue that caused frame rate drops under unspecified conditions.

The update also enabled Bluetooth connectivity for DualSense and DualShock controllers, fixes character graphics not displaying properly on certain screens, some UI issues, incorrect text display, errors in the ending credits, and unexpected crashing issues under certain conditions. Even without them, the latest main entry in the long-running series is more than worth anyone's time, as highlighted by Kai in his review of the PlayStation 5 release.

Final Fantasy XVI heralds in a new standard for Japanese role-playing games and while the RPG components themselves are limited by Square-Enix standards, it's the narrative and gameplay that exceed all expectations.

I take real beef with Atlus's continued tradition of not giving its protagonist an actual damn name. It was all fine and dandy back when JRPGs had no voice acting, but that's not the case anymore! Even back when Square Enix refused to slap everyone with the name Tidus in Final Fantasy 10—though, perhaps that spared us of the atrocious «official» pronunciation—it annoyed the hell out of me.
