Yoshinori Kitase, the legendary veteran director of Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, and current producer of the Remake trilogy (fresh off Rebirth), thinks it is time for another adaptation of the iconic universe.

As the producer of 2005's excellent CGI action film Advent Children, Kitase would know, and we'd love to see Square Enix return to the well.

Speaking to Danny Peña (thanks, VGC), Kitase was asked what the potential for another Final Fantasy VII spin-off in the form of film or TV was, and Kitase said: «We don’t have anything officially planned, and so this is just strictly my personal sort of wish, but yeah, I’ve heard about various Hollywood directors and actors playing Final Fantasy VII, and many creators also respect the title.» While it sounds like Kitase would be keen to see something new in the setting, it doesn't necessarily seem like he'd like to lead such a project: «I’ve been hearing things about creators out there who are very interested in the property, who love the Final Fantasy VII universe, and so yeah, I’d love to see something that comes out of these creators, in terms of like a cinematic or some kind of visual piece.» «I stuck my nose into everyone's work there» But future entries probably won't be exclusives Would you like to see another Final Fantasy adaptation, hopefully something more Advent Children and less The Spirits Within?
