Kickboxer 4K Release Date Set for 35th Anniversary SteelBook

In honor of its 35th anniversary, Lionsgate has announced the Kickboxer 4K release date for the classic martial arts movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

“Accompanied by his brother Kurt, American kickboxing champion Eric Sloane arrives in Thailand to defeat the Eastern warriors at their own sport,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “His opponent: ruthless fighter and Thai champion Tong Po. Tong not only defeats Eric, he paralyzes him for life. Crazed with anger, Kurt vows revenge. After a crash course in the ancient techniques of kickboxing from Thai master Xian Chow, Kurt challenges Tong. Their battle to the finish, born of lust, power, and revenge, will leave only one man standing.”

For the first time, Kickboxer will officially be available to purchase on 4K Steelbook starting on December 3 at WalMart for the suggested retail price of $34.99. This comes after Blu-ray version of the Kickboxer SteelBook was released earlier this year, which bears the same design as the upcoming 4K release.

The film was directed by David Worth from a script written by Glenn A. Bruce. The cast also included Dennis Alexio as Picasso Trigger, Dennis Chan as The Man with the Iron Fists, Haskell Anderson as A Civil Action, and Rochelle Ashana as Carjack. Despite receiving negative reviews, the 1989 film still managed to earn a worldwide gross of around $50 million against a reported budget of $2.7 million.

Listed below are the special features included in the 4K release.
